DevLog: Testing

For this Final week of Testing, i Was unable to go to the Testing lectures and was unable to get testers for my Game. so I'm just going to explain some Bugs i found while i went through this week that took to much time to fix and couldn't figure out how to.

one big Bug i found in testing week was with the Security Cameras sight. the sight is meant to take 30 seconds when a player enters it but only activates one time per entry. however, i had a bug where some camera sighs couldn't detect the player and wouldn't take time away and where some could but could only be triggered one time per game which i had a hard time figuring out how to fix. i found out that i hadn't set some layers and collisions right in the game objects "sight" that were attached to the camera to be Tagged as Sight. i also found i hadn't correctly identified the Tag Sight in a player script so it wasn't activating.

one bug i couldn't find out what was wrong with was the player sprite movement. i had sent up the sprite 8-way movement in Unity however it keeps getting stuck on itself and i don't know why.

with dealing with those 2 bugs i Ran out to make a complete game but a playable game instead.

with the game now i found it a bit plain. you can play and finish it, however with only the cameras as the enemy didn't come challenging enough. so here is the list of things i wish i could of added if I had the time to do so.

Security Guy:

The security Guy would have the same sight as the cameras, however unlike them they can freely move around the map following points invisible to the player, and unlike the camera if the security guy saw the player the security guy would follow the Player into hes out of there sight. and for every second the Player is in the Sight 3 seconds would be lost from the time.  the only way the player can get away is to leave the sight for 3 seconds and the security guy will go back to his path.

update to cameras:

i wanted to add a movement to the sight of the cameras to make it more interesting to stay away from the sight. i wanted to make it so it would go in a circle around the camera like so it still looks like the camera sight into that sight hit a wall and it would go the over way.

another thing i wanted to add was if the camera saw a player it would alert a Security Guy nearby to come to that area. this would make it so the player wouldn't want to get seen by the cameras even more. making it more challenging.

Hiding Lockers:

Lockers would of been places for the player to Hide if needed from the Security guys. while in the Locker the security guy wouldn't be able to see you so he would stay still for 3 seconds and leave back to his path

hackable doors and cameras:

i wanted to add a mini-game where the player can enter rooms where they can play the mini-game to open a door to continue or shut down cameras that would see a player.
